Huron Valley State Bank's "Soup-er Bowl" Drive Nourishes Community with 300 Cans of Soup

Huron Valley State Bank proudly announces the success of its annual “Soup-er Bowl” Drive, benefiting the Open Door Outreach Center (ODOC). Throughout February, employees and customers came together to support the community, collecting 300 cans of soup to help provide meals for families facing food insecurity in the area.

The friendly competition kicked off the week leading up to the Super Bowl, inviting participants to “vote” for the game’s winning team by donating cans of soup. Collection baskets representing each team were placed at the bank’s Milford and Highland branches, as well as the Financial Center, allowing employees and customers to join in the fun while supporting a meaningful cause.

“Every year this drive reminds us how small acts of generosity can add up to something meaningful,” said Joan Green, Customer Service Supervisor of the Highland Branch of Huron Valley State Bank. “Seeing our team members and customers come together to support neighbors in need is what community banking is all about.”

The “Soup-er Bowl” Drive was organized by the bank’s Marketing Committee, including Lisa Brow, Sara Klepinger, Joan Green, Sheri Miles, and Eric Shubitowski, demonstrating the team’s shared commitment to giving back and strengthening the communities they serve.

Dawn Danhausen, Marketing & Development Manager at Open Door Outreach Center, expressed gratitude for the continued partnership and support. “We are incredibly thankful to Huron Valley State Bank and their employees for their generosity,” said Danhausen. “Donations like these help us keep our pantry stocked and ensure local families have access to nutritious meals when they need them most.”

Open Door Outreach Center is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt nonprofit organization dedicated to recognizing the human dignity of all people by providing emergency services including food, clothing, and referral information to families in need. Open Door is located on Cooley Lake Road near the corner of Hospital Road in Waterford. Their thrift store helps fund the outreach center through the sale of clothing, jewelry, books, and other household items.
